Explore your leadership profile
Instructions: This task invites you to take the first active step in shaping your leadership identity. After reflecting on the definitions, characteristics, and personal values explored in this chapter, you’ll now map out your current leadership profile and identify where you want to grow.
This is not a test — it’s a tool for self-discovery and intentional development.
Step 1: Reflect on Your Leadership Tendencies
Review the following statements and rate yourself on a scale from 1 (Rarely) to 5 (Always):
Statement |
1–5 |
I feel comfortable guiding or supporting others in group settings. |
I actively listen and create space for others to express their views. |
I usually stay calm and constructive during high-pressure situations. |
I like to set goals and motivate others toward shared outcomes. |
I’m aware of how my values influence my decisions. |
I reflect on my actions and take ownership of my mistakes. |
I’m comfortable adapting my approach to different team needs. |
I seek to create a sense of inclusion and respect within a group. |
I balance people’s needs with the tasks that must be done. |
I believe leadership is something I can keep learning and improving. |
💡 Look for your strongest statements — and the ones with lower scores. What does that tell you?
Step 2: Define Your Current Leadership Style
In a few sentences, describe how you currently lead or would lead if given the opportunity. Consider:
- What are your strengths as a leader?
- What traits or behaviours do you want to develop further?
- How do you want others to feel when they work with you?
- What kind of leadership impact do you hope to have?
Step 3: Set an Intention for Growth
Write down one value that matters to you as a leader (e.g., respect, responsibility, creativity, inclusion).
Then complete the following sentence:
“As a leader, I want to grow in the area of __________ so that I can __________.”
You can revisit this profile later in the module to see how your leadership mindset has shifted. Keep it somewhere visible — this is where your leadership journey begins.
