Ethical leadership for a better workplace
Imagine you’ve been asked to help a company that’s having some problems: employees don’t trust their managers very much, and a lot of people are quitting. Your job is to give practical suggestions to improve fairness, trust, and inclusion at work.
You’ll write a short plan for the company’s leadership. Follow the steps below to guide your thinking.
- What is ethical leadership?
- In your own words, explain what it means to be an ethical leader.
- What personal qualities make a leader trustworthy and fair?
- Use examples from this module, or think of a leader you admire.
Tip: Think about honesty, fairness, listening, leading by example.
- Why does ethical leadership matter?
- How can ethical leadership make a difference in a workplace?
- How might it help reduce turnover and improve trust?
- Give a few examples of how it can improve motivation, teamwork, inclusion, or loyalty.
Tip: Think about how people feel when they’re treated with respect and included.
- What can leaders do?
Suggest 3–5 specific actions the organisation can take to:
- Build trust between leaders and employees.
- Make everyone feel respected and included.
- Reduce the number of people quitting.
Tip: Think about things like communication, team activities, fair hiring practices, leadership training, or anonymous feedback tools.
✅ Your Final Task:
Write a short plan (1–2 pages) that answers the 3 sections above. Try to be clear and practical — imagine you are really giving advice to a group of leaders who want to improve.
