Ethical Leadership

Practical ethical tool

You’ve been given a great opportunity by your supervisor to apply what you’ve learned! Your task is to create a simple, useful tool that helps others in your organisation (like colleagues or managers) make good ethical decisions — especially when it comes to equality, diversity and inclusion.

✅ Your Goal:

Create one of the following tools that supports fair and ethical decision-making at work. Make sure it reflects ideas and steps from the ethical decision-making models you’ve studied.

Pick one tool type to create:

Ethical Decision Flowchart

A visual step-by-step guide that helps people think through ethical choices.

Include helpful questions like:

  • Who might be affected by this decision?
  • Does this treat everyone fairly?
  • Could this decision unintentionally exclude or disadvantage someone?

Equal Opportunities Checklist

A checklist that people can use during hiring, promotions or evaluations.

Include items like:

  • Are we being transparent and fair?
  • Are we considering flexible work needs?
  • Are we avoiding unconscious bias?

Mini Workshop Plan

A simple activity for a group where they discuss a short ethical scenario.

Include:

  • A short made-up situation (e.g., someone being overlooked for a promotion)
  • 2–3 discussion questions (e.g., What would be a fair response? How can we include everyone?)

✅ How to Complete the Task:

  • Choose one tool type (or make your own!)
  • Keep it short, clear and practical — something others could actually use.
  • Try to include at least one ethical decision-making model or idea from the course materials.
  • You can write it out as a list, diagram, table, or short guide (1–2 pages max).
